More goodbyes
February 6, 2012 | My Jottings
A dark blue cookbook prop, a thermos without a cup, a clock I love that no longer works, an old glucometer in a black pouch, child security things for cabinets, lightbulbs that don’t fit anything in our house, and a round box with fruit on the lid.
These were all hidden away in a high kitchen cabinet, out of sight and out of use. Now they’ve been donated and that cabinet is almost empty, and hopefully someone will be able to make use of these in some way.
Dozens of things gone so far in 2012, dozens more to go. I do realize that these posts about paring down make for immensely spine-tingling reading. I hope you’re able to handle it. I know I’m actually quite thrilled. 🙂
That makes two of us!! keep up the good work Julie!!
Good job Helen! You too!
I have not made a list cause I am not a saver. With clothes, I usually
Take them to Goodwill after two years. When I got home from Church
yesterday Kacie had everything out of the shed. We actually cleaned
it out about 6 months ago. I do not like to shred so take paper
stuff up Jim’s and burn it. Most of everything is still outside but it is
going to rain so it has to be transported to Goodwill or trash. I really
hope to make it easier on everyone when I go home to be with the
Lord. I know there will still be lots of stuff to go through cause now I
am to busy or to tired to sort stuff. Love that clock Julie.
It sounds like you have got a handle on things, Dorothy. It’s nice to dictate to your stuff, and not have your stuff dictate to you, isn’t it? LY lots.
Yes yes! Spine-tingled – I look forward eagerly to each of these posts! Well done! xxx
You are my kind of woman. 🙂
Can I tell you that I am sitting here giggling about the STUFF we keep somewhere–and how strange the things we keep! I have been trying all winter (not that it has been much of a winter) to clean out the bookcase in the back room. I promise to grit my teeth and do it …let’s see, I have to vacuum and mop the house first…and then tutor tomorrow and Friday…See, that bookcase just KEEPS escaping! At least I HAVE to fold and put away the laundry. That or we will never see the kitchen table again!!
Thanks for the encouragement, Julie.
I think like that too, Nancy! First I’ll tackle this, and then I’ll get that all completed, and then maybe I’ll feel like cleaning out the cupboards. But I usually don’t feel like it by then. This way, one item per day, I’m making a small difference, and it seems very doable. Thank you for commenting!
